PALAZZO SAETTA
The soul of Salento rediscovered

An intimate palace in the heart of Nardò

In the historic center of Nardò, a Baroque jewel of Salento, Palazzo Saetta welcomes you.

This 17th-century residence, lovingly restored, combines the classic charm of ancient stone with the comfort of a contemporary living space.

Beneath its white stone arches and behind its pink façade, discover a garden of orange trees—a haven of freshness—and a secluded pool hidden from view, just steps away from the main piazza and lively streets.

This is not a hotel. It is a small, human-scale home, filled with stories, laughter, and light—a place where you can truly experience the dolce vita.

The History of Palazzo Saetta

A story of fate and love at first sight

Palazzo Saetta, named for its owners (saetta means “lightning bolt” in Italian), is more than a house—it is a fateful discovery.
Although the name likely originates from a Mr. Saetta who acquired it about a century ago, the palace stood abandoned and waiting to be brought back to life when it was stumbled upon during a property search in Nardò’s historic center.

Cracked, damaged, and neglected, yet imbued with an undeniable grace, the palace captivated its new owners at first sight. Purchased without hesitation, it has been lovingly restored with a singular mission: to preserve its Italian soul and share its beauty with those who cross its threshold. Today, Palazzo Saetta has been reborn.
Its pink walls and elegant arches light up a tranquil piazzetta, watching over couples who sit on shaded benches beneath the trees. From the garden, under orange trees, you can feel the authentic Italian life of Piazza Salandra, just 100 meters away—the laughter of children, the lively chatter from nearby cafés, the aroma of almond pastries, and the soft chimes of church bells.

The Town & the Region

Nardò, the Baroque gem of Salento

In the heart of the heel of the Italian boot, on the Ionian Sea and just an hour from the Adriatic, Nardò is one of the oldest and most secretive towns in Puglia.

Stroll through its golden streets, where palaces and Baroque churches follow one another under the rhythm of the sun.

By bike or on foot, set out to explore the preserved coastline of the Porto Selvaggio Natural Park, where cliffs, wild coves, and trails bordered by olive trees create an otherworldly backdrop.

Nearby:

  • Lecce (30 min) — the Florence of the South
  • Gallipoli (20 min) — the pearl of the Ionian Sea
  • Otranto and Santa Maria di Leuca — where the Adriatic meets the Mediterranean

Salento is also a land of sunlit wines, precious olive oils, and authentic gastronomy, waiting to be discovered in the surrounding masserias.
